Another fat-spoked wheel. I think that the drag results of this wheel are likely to be disappointing. Probably also going to be outranked by an R560.

Are you suggesting this is less aero than smaller round spokes?

I don't know, but if aero spokes are less aero than traditional spokes, what gives? Marketing?

The spokes on the wheel that you linked were magnesium and consequently of high-cross-sectional area, even higher than aluminium spokes, which are themselves of much higher sectional area than steel. Whether or not they are bladed, magnesium spokes are still much inferior to bladed steel spokes in terms of aerodynamic drag. They are probably even inferior to round steel spokes.

My Starlites are bladed steel, so I guess that is good. There is a noticeable difference at higher speeds or higher wind( both head and cross) between my new wheelset (24 steel bladed) and my old (32 round steel spokes.)

My thoughts were that the Magnesium pros extreme light weight, and fewer spokes would make up the difference. Being only 1100 grams is pretty impressive. These haven't been tested to my knowledge, but Vuelta's Carbon Pros have been at the top of most wheel testing list that I have seen.
