yeah its just when they try and give advice, it always seems to come out as criticism. instead of going 'hey your a total idiot for riding a monster gear like that!' they should be saying stuff like; 'well did you know you can actually get the same gear ratio from a 53/11 as you can from a 57/12?' that would've been nicer and quicker🙁

oh i do learn, it seems some members in here are a little slow once i said i was putting on a 53 , that should've given the indication that i had taken on what people had said, but everyone kept repeating it still, really freaky.

oh yeah scotty dog, what i posted was all true. can even hit 120 RPM if i feel frisky. on a 53/11 never mind a 12.

Sounds like someone talking out their ass. For me to climb Grade 5 waterfall ice requires me to wear crampons and nicely cared for pair of technical ice axes. Gee, I can't imagine going UP that with only a bicycle and non-studded tires. Falling would be a [censored]. 57-20 uphill? Yeah, sure. You should have won the Giro and TdF at least 4 or 5 times by now, 'cuz yer likely making more power than anyone ever has or ever will on a bicycle.

Funny, I was thinking along the lines of trying to ride up a "mellow" grade of say 50-60 degrees like Hall of Mirrors on Glacier Point Apron, only a 5.12 friction climb shouldn't be a problem with that gearing 🙂
