"Chocolate brownies"
Ingredients: How to Prepare:
Ingredients:
50 g Plain chocolate
50 g Butter
100 g Caster sugar
50 g Walnuts, chopped
50 g Self-raising flour
2 item Egg, beaten
Chocolate brownies
Makes 9
1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C / Gas 4. Lightly grease an 18 cm shallow
square cake tin, and then line with greaseproof paper.
2. Put a bowl over a pan of simmering water. Break the chocolate into
pieces in the bowl and add the butter and sugar. Heat gently until
melted, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
Advice: For a delicious alternative use pecan nuts instead of walnuts.
Chop them and use as you would the walnuts.
3. Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl and add the walnuts. Gradually
beat in the chocolate mixture and eggs. Pour into the prepared tin and
bake for 30 minutes or until the cake is just beginning to shrink from
the sides of the tin.
4. Remove from the oven and leave to cool in the tin. Cut into 9
portions and serve. Freezer: layer the brownies in a rigid container
between sheets of greaseproof paper.
Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature.
