Mini meatballs and dipping sauce

According to extensive research done by my 18 year old son and his band of
cohorts, meatballs taste good dipped in anything including things as far
fetched and disgusting as raspberry jam or vanilla yogurt. However, the
highest ratings were given to Marie's blue cheese or honey mustard
dressings. I know - it sounds weird, but my grocery receipts prove that
they'll eat it.

There's always the infamous grape jelly sauce! Oh, wait, the meatballs
should be smothered in that concoction, not dipped in it. Right, Nancy? 😉
Maybe BBQ sauce? But the bottled varieties contain a lot of high fructose
corn syrup.

I don't suppose ranch dip would work. Or french onion dip. Hmmm, I just
don't have any other dip ideas for meatballs. Sorry! Good luck!

My grandkids, when little, loved honey mustard sauce, and they would
eat anything if they could dip it in Ranch dressing.

Any cheese fondue would be fun for kids if you can monitor double
dipping. I don't have the recipe here but I did a pizza fondue that
you dipped mini meatballs in. It wasn't haute cuisine, but was good.
It was mozzarella, provolone, parmesan, spaghetti sauce and whatever
extra spicing you want to add. Kids always like velveta and salsa
melted together too. (I'll probably get flamed for that.)

Kind of along those lines, I would think a sour cream stroganoff-type dip
might work? But, yeah, otherwise honey mustard was the first thing I
thought of, too.

Add the cooked meatballs to one jar grape jelly plus one bottle of
chili sauce and low-simmer together for 40 minutes.

It turns out kinda good!

I like half catsup and half BBQ sauce. I don't know if that's too
spicy. I also have a little bowl or plate of red pepper flakes, for a
secondary dipping. That should be out of reach of the little kids.

Original buttermilk HVR dressing made at home with the packet might even
go well with ice cream. I'd certainly eat it with any meatball and like
it. I love the stuff. YMMV.

I had friends visiting tonite & I asked their two young kids this
question about dipping sauces and reply was go to McDonalds & ask for
each of their chicken nugget sauces.

When I asked the kids which sauces they wouldn't want the reply was
pizza sauce or any thing with tomatoes.

When question about meatballs with jelly or side of jellies the reply
was YUCK!!!!!!.

Yes, a sweet & sour sauce would be good. So might a mild creamy mustard
sauce. I think most kids like mustard.

I make those. I mix sweet and sour sauce with the pineapple juice from
the can of pineapple. Green pepper and onion go in the mix. I put
ginger in the actual meatballs...
