I've had my fill of quakes. Lived through the really bad '63 quake in Alaska (which wiped out
Anchorage and caused a tidal wave wiping out Crescent City in California). I was a youngen then.

Experienced another at Lake Tahoe in October, '94.

And saw the waves in the pool (here in Arizona) when the Northridge, CA quake hit.

I'm glad I wasn't up where you were when these happened. Come to think of it.....I'm glad I'm not up
there at any time.... <g>

Shakers happen in just about every state but not as much as in Cali. I was in one in Philadelphia PA
back in the 70s. And the last one I woke up to was in Cali in the mid 80s. Lompoc CA Which it killed
LA 160 miles to the south.

Glad it didn't shake you off.

I experienced a pretty noticable one while I was working a job at a spa in Mexico a couple of years
ago. It just felt weird like I had some kind of inner ear imbalance going on. Then I noticed some
doors rattling and the water in a fountain nearby was moving around like water in a bucket when you
carry it. The guy I was working with (spa owner) casually said "Earthquake. Did you feel it?".

My wife was trying to sleep back at the hotel and she said it headboard of the bed rattled against
the wall and made her think it was a ghost or something.

Google earthquakes in New Madrid, Missouri. Of the two earthquakes I've been in, both small, one was
in CA and one in Delaware.

I wasn't bright enough to even CONSIDER earthquake, never having lived in an area that worries
about them. I was sitting at the computer, noticed the house seemed to be shaking a tad, but
sort of figured it must be a passing train or BIG trucks down on the highway 1/4 mile below. I
actually got up and opened the window trying to hear what was causing this, and thinking it must
be mainly sound waves reaching me and tricking me into thinking it was shaking. I couldn't
deduce what might be the problem, and dismissed it. (I now live in the woods enough removed from
the highway that any thing that actually shakes the house now SHOULD concern me, but I lived in
town up through last year and got used to the passing trains 150 yards away shaking things
mildly, plus big trucks on the highway 150' away rattling things with their rapping jake
brakes.) I had to be informed when I saw the news at 11PM that we had actually had an
earthquake. Man, did I feel dumb for not having even thought of the possibility. Glad our new
home didn't get "broken in" by it. Or maybe it did.. hmm, another set of worries? NAH!
