Tadpole Sound System?

Why not use on-the-ear headphones, you're keep your ears a bit warmer and still hear
everything else.

I had some, admittedly cheap, speakers powered only by my Walkman and they were not very good or
loud. Might be better off with speakers with their own powersupply (batteries). I don't know if
PC-speakers would hack it but I'm sure there are stuff for CD-players and Walkmen too.

There is not a portable CD player with with power out. However, there are several speaker systems
with built in amplifiers, many that have battery operation.

There is a system on the market to do just what you want. Look at the BYCO stereo amplifier system.
www.bicyclestereo.com or search for BYCO WRX1 I purchased the unit and have tries it out, but have
not installed it yet. Note: you must supply the sound source (walkman, CD, etc), this is a
waterproof amplification and speaker system only.

Ricky I think it was a photo of one of your tadpoles that I saw the CD Player on last year and that
got me thinking. I always thought the vibration of the road would cause the CD to skip...but I guess
they don't do that because I have seen people on MTBs using them.

David, Thankyou but I was thinking of something a wee bit bigger. Something with speakers loud enuff
to drown out the noise around me. Someone else suggested computer speakers...which sound fine.

Joshua, you should look at MP3 players or minidisk systems for portable use - some (most) portable
CD players comes with a short memory to avoid skipping, but it uses batteries, and isn't exactly
bullitproof (!). The other types benefit from less moving parts. For speakers, get some designated
for portable use, so they will survive the moist and vibration. Get small ones, and build them into
the headrest or whatever.

For the best HiFi quality, you should mount the speakers on your helmet ;-)

I have to agree that an MP3 player is the way to go. They're small, lightweight, low power consumers
and the prices continue to drop. I bought a Creative Labs Nomad Muvo. LOVE IT.

How 'bout tandeming with your daughter on your Bikee E2 and making up songs then singing them as
loud as you can without regard for the strange looks you're getting. That, my friends, is
