This all started as a joke when he made a typo calling a size "48" a "48cm".
If you're having a slow day, how about measuring the external length and width of the hard sole from a bunch of sizes? How wide is the plastic sole of those 52's? Length:width? How does that scale compared to some 39's?

joe, are you trying to evolve a STOCK CYCLE shoe size for your foot from a rack that doesn't carry it thru logic-FORGETABOUTIT! or go try it on. EG, I wear an 14E right on the E line on the foot measuring device. Is there an available E in AT sneakers? be serious, when hell freezes over. there's a EE that fits and a D in NorthFace XCR that I'm now wearing around the dump, easing in, and the D fits like a ballet slipper. The D came UPS, I'm amazed it fits. The Diadora Touring does not fit. When Diadora said D, they meant D. People in Yurp bind their children's feet so their [censored]'s are tighter.

My problem is I have to order, and all the folks who will sell to me have said, "These will fit fine!" after lots of back and forth email, and once they get here, past customs and high shipping and taxes and everything else, guess what?
So i'm trying to figure out if it is a lost cause, and I could be better spending my time thinking of an alternative.

Ideally, you will find shoes that fit perfectly. But a bit of practical advice: If in doubt, go for a shoe that's slightly larger/ wider. You can always add an inner sole or orthotic to make a larger shoe fit. Not much you can do about a too small shoe.
