  1. A friend and I have the chance to go to the Giro the week of May 22 -
    28. I'm not having much luck finding the "official site" with the
    route, stage information, etc.

We would be staying at the Arabba ski resort, and we'd have the chance
to ride in that area. But we'd also like to climb the Passo Stelvio.
So we need to find out things like how to get there (is public
transportation possible), whether the Giro is using that climb this
year, what the road conditions are, etc.

How can I get some of this information?

(PDF, 1 MB). Stage 15, Sunday, March 25, starts in Arabba.

You're right on the course of the Sella Ronda,

Gardena, Pordoi, Sella, Campolongo. Mmmmmmm (drool).

    Thanks, Ted,
It looks as if we'll have a lot of work to do when we ride in that area.

My friend is a CSC employee, and I'm retired from CSC. The company is
sponsoring the week, and they say they'll have "team bikes" (Cervelo)
available to us - all we need is our pedals. But I'm going to have to
find out if there will be bikes with triple chainrings available.

We'll definitely have to do the Selle Ronda. I'm wondering how I will
fare, though. When we went to this event in 2002, we were staying at
Les Deux Alpes. I had done a lot of climbing in Southern California
(basically from sea level), but I couldn't seem to get enough oxygen
when the climbs started at 1500 meters. We drove up the Alpe d'Huez one
evening, and I just knew I couldn't ride it.

Now, I'm 10 kilos lighter, and riding over 20,000 km a year, so I hope
    I'll do better.
    Colin
