A mail-order catalogue offering vitamin pills, etc, appeared in my
post recently.
On one page it has a photo of two people riding along a path through a
field on a cycle built for one. The machine has no brake levers on the
handlebars and no brake mechanism on the front wheel. The rear wheel
is partly obscured but the hub does not appear large enough to be a
back-pedal brake. The machine has a flat rear tyre.
(The people shown seem to be in their late 50's into 60's and I think
the idea is to suggest that taking the pills offered keep older people
fit enough to lark about like this).
What to members think of depicting unsafe riding & cycles in ads. like
this?
I'm pretty sure an ad. showing an overloaded and mechanically unsound
car would not be allowed.
The same firm included a similar picture in another catalogue about a
year ago. I wrote to them about it but they did not deign to reply.
