I was sad to read of the death of "Safespeed" Paul Smith ...
since he died naturally instead of being hit by a speeding car. That would have been more appropriate.
His website had a link for submitting suggestions on how to avoid speeding tickets, but he never published my 100% foolproof one. It's simple.
Drive at the speed limit.
Not rocket science.
Yawn. You missed your chance to crow at an unfortunate death some weeks ago when the death occurred. Feel free to beat off while reading the posts of that thread, but dont bother the rest of us by bringing up old old old old news, okay?

At risk of dredging up an old thread, although I might personally miss the [censored], I did admire his stance. If we had more cyclists like him, life would be far better for cyclists.

No, it wouldn't. He was as destructive to the group he espoused as to the rest of society. He was one of the very few people of whom it can honestly be said 'he had no redeeming features'.

None of which has anything to do with buses so please keep it out of uk.transport.buses if you please.

From what I have seen there seems to be only one car religiously sticking to the 30 mile an hour speed limit in my area and that is the one I drive .

Never caused an accident in my life. Its the [censored] who think that driving at or below the speed limit makes them safe drivers who cause the accidents

Ivor
OK Ivor. How about "only losers catch the bus"? Although buses are useful between the terminal building and the 'plane.

As you would appear to be a potential leader writer for the "Feudal Times & Reactionary Herald" perhaps you should have written "Never _knowingly_ caused an accident in my life". Bruce

I never have caused an accident in my life up to now Bruce and also why my car insurance is 71.29 a YEAR but having 40 plus totally accident free years of driving record I think it should be less than that . Don't you drive mules in that God forsaken place that you live not cars ? .

What has any of this, scintillating conversation though it is, got to do with buses..?

We do have cars and we keep well under the speed limits as petrol up here has been over a pound a litre (diesel & petrol) for the last 3 years. And what's the point in speeding, especially on an island with less than 10 miles of road?

If the place is that small what's the point of having a car?

There are those who, while preferring to walk, are no longer able so to do.

Just checking Bruce, but is it even *possible* to speed there? Mull for example only has speed limits in a very few places, the remainder being NSL, which to all intents and purposes simply meant "drive as fast as you dare" since with all the roads being single track with the odd passing place you'd have to be psychotic to attempt more than 40!
