the components are the same. my question: is it better to have the carbon frame(CR1) or aluminum(S30)? this is my first road bike but i'm not new to cycling. any info will help. thanks.

I would say it depends on what you plan to ride. I have the S20 and love it. I have carbon fork and seat stay and for my 20-30 average rides I'm fine. Then again, I've never had a full carbon bike so I wouldn't know exactly. I think it would be up to what you can afford and how you are going to ride it...

I bought the CR1 for my first bike...

Go for the CR-1...that is my primary ride and the carbon has a much better ride (in my opinion) to my aluminum bike.
