Kiefer's Variety Store (NP Avenue at 4th Street in Fargo) bought several semi-loads of strange and
wonderful gourmet foods from a wholesaler in the Cities who went out of business.
I had a BALL!
They have sea salt and 20 kinds of olive oil, organic pasta sauces and Lindt Truffles and
Ghirardelli Chocolate and English jams and chutneys and spice mixes and and and . . .
I bought sea salt, mustards, four kinds of chutneys, Basmati rice, Demi-Glace, Lobster Pate, sun-
dried tomatoes, Demarara, VAnilla and Amber sugars, Onions in Vermouth and Cherries in Bourbon and
whole chestnuts on water, four oz. mixed peppercorns $1.79, Sweet Hungarian Paprika 6 oz $1.05,
preserved ginger in syrup $1.75 and a box of 36 Ferraro Rocher Chocolates for $3 etc etc.
Three things I DIDN'T buy: Truffle Vinegar ($4), pure Hazelnut Oil ($7) and pure Pistachio Oil ($8).
(all 12 to 16oz bottles) I am on a LIMITED budget and they don't take food stamps. (not kidding!)
Should I go back and get the oils?
If you are within driving distance of Fargo this might be worth the trip.

PS: the Lobster Bisque is gone but they have lots of Vichsoisse at $1.20 a can. Expect to pay about
$3 for a 16 oz. botthe of EVOO
