how to change campy ergo hoods?

slick. but the only way I see to change them is take the shifters off. is it more work then I

Cut the old ones off, take the new ones, stick the brake blade thru the opening and pull them over
the top. No need to take the shifter off, a little simple green on the inside makes them slippery,
easier to get on.

I did this once and I don't remember that I had to remove the shifters from the bike. Just pull the
old hoods off, pulling the back up over the "pointy" top of the shifter body and then pull the whole
thing (now more or less inside-out) over the lever itself.

I had thought of cutting the old one but I hoped there was a better way.

I don't know the Sachs shifters but hoods can be pulled off Campagnolo Ergos (old & new type) by
force with levers still on the bars.

Press out the pin which holds the brake lever arm, just as you do to rebuild the lever. With those
out if the way, it's simple to change the covers without extreme effort.
