purchased a schwinn seneca. 25miles so far and no complaints. Great bike for price/health/excercise/ point a-b...etc... Local bike shops i've been to seem to have smart remarks, why??? very unwelcoming and un-inviting. As if its pointless to help or service my bike because its not a well known brand?? Trek, specialized... The rudeness is beyond. I've found the cycling community to be un inviting. Why does the ride you choice determine the service and reaction/treatment you get/deserve?? Its rude and just shameful, its not like this guys are Tour de france cyclists. No !!!!!
My bike looks and feel like a racing bike although i know it does not have the components to get me into the tour de france. But it serves it purpose!!!
There seems to be alot of ego! and competetion when in come to your cycling world/community.... sadness........Why???😠

you will allways get that type of shallow nonsence in every sport usually from people with limited thought of mind ....and missing the whole point completely of cycling etc.you should ignore these people after all you would wipe bugs off your jacket with out thinking about it?

If a team showed up at the tour de france with single speed bikes bought at the local hardware store and won the tour the other manufacturers would be [censored]. People who ride for pleasure and buy those $3,000 bikes make no sense to me. If you get an aluminum bike it's all you need. For one thing those guys on the tour weigh 145 lbs. If you buy a bike to save grams, but you're 50 lbs overweight it useless.

airreckson3, read your post and it reminded me of a ride me and my wife did two years ago. We were in the elavator of the hotel everyone was staying at for the ride. the woman asks my wife "what bike do you ride"? my wife tells her "a Trek hybrid", the woman chuckled and said "well at least you look the part". My wife was very upset that the woman was so rude to her. 25 miles into the ride, my wife and I pass the very woman that was rude to her in the elavator. She was riding a Lemond roadbike!!!! We both smiled as we rode by her!😄 You are correct, there are some very rude bike snobs out there!! But I like to think they are the exception.

Combining this attitude with the GFC will probably see them go out of business soon 😉

Been riding a Harley-Davidson for years now and started into the cycling because I can no longer run for long distance because of my left knee. However, back to the Harley... if you happen to go into some dealerships, some people can be snooty about other coming in there with Honda or Suzuki apparel on. It's just disgustingly elementary!
Since starting cycling, I've come to see more snotty little rich people in this field than in the motor-biking field. I was turned off at first, but when I'm getting a better work out on my 30lb steel bike with grip shifters and can still pass their tushes on the pavement, that puts a sh!t-eatin grin on my face! 😄
p.s. Don't worry about what others think of you, it's none of your business.
