If I expected to complete a flattish marathon in 3 hours, how long might
I expect this one:

to take? +1829m -300m
You see, there's an excellent chance I'll be there in September...

The race I'm training for is 45km, +1528m, -1788m on trails. Marathon time x 1.5 is the rule-of-
thumb. Some do significantly better and if your legs fail, you can do significantly worse.
Maybe marathon time x 1.4 for the Jungfrau? You could look at past results for the Jungfrau and
google flat marathon times for some of the runners, but if you have an opportunity to run the
Jungfrau how could you not?

Just found the start seeding actually, and the top group apart from elite (of which there are 200 in
a 4000 entry race) is 4h10. So assuming that correlates with the top group being sub-3hrs in a
normal sub-3hr group in a normal marathon, x1.4 would seem about right. Winner last year got 2.49
and hasn't beaten 2.10 on the flat.
How could I not? Well, the reason I might be there is because it's my honeymoon. But it'll be
practically the end of it, so I might get away with it 🙂 But if I get a good marathon under my belt
in April, I'll be very (very very) tempted....
