The cheapest tends to be FEDEX ground, but you'll be without your bike for a while. Checking your
bike on a domestic flight typically costs $80. International flights usually let you check your
bike for free.

If your bike frame has C&C couplers, you probably can pack the bike within the 62 linear inch
airline limit and check the bag for free.

There is a great story where someone took one of those old highwheel bicycles on a flight to
Scotland (for some anniversary celebration). The airline, at the time, said they would transport any
bike for $75. So, this guy shows up with a 7 foot tall box on wheels ... anyways, check out;

These days traveling on a plane is such a PITA, that I take my truck half the time. Even though it
takes me 12 hours to drive to North Carolina, vs. 3 hours flying ... by the time I'm done with
waiting for the plane, getting searched, one transfer ... the money evens out, and the time evens
out. Still waste half a day, but I get to take a ton of stuff when I drive, and take whatever I want
without explaining myself.

Box it up in a bike box and then UPS/FEDEX it to your destination.
