  1. Where can you report adverse reactions to medicines, so that other patients will know what
    to expect?

It's usually been my experience that the doctors ignore this, & will ridicule/belittle patients who
    report adverse reactions.

Here are instructions for reporting problems with medicines (and herbs, dietary supplements, and
other products regulated by the FDA), including adverse reactions:

    fda.govproblem.html

Once a Complaint/Injury Report is filed (Form FDA 2516), consumers can access it by filing a FOIA
    request, as described here:

    fda.govfoiahand.html

It may also become available in FDA public databases, however consumers seriously interested in a
product should consider a FOIA request. It's cheap, and you get a ton of information.

I suggest making the FOIA request by U.S. mail. I've tried doing it by fax, but those seem to
    be ignored.

I told the oral surgeon who removed my wisdom teeth that I had a bad reaction to the percodan
that he prescribed for the pain. He told me that I was most likely allergic to it. That was close
to 25 years ago. I have absolutely no understanding why people hold up pharmacists to get that
    stuff for "fun".

So when I broke my ankle a few years ago I told the ER folks that I had had a bad reaction to
percodan... so the doctor prescribed some other pain killer. Unfortunately, I did not like the
nausea I got from it. So I just stuck to ibuprofen.

Not everyone reacts the same to medication. You have to be able to inform the prescribing doctor
what YOUR reactions to a specific medication are. You may wish to carry somewhere on your body that
you have adverse reactions to certain medication... much like my father does after he got hives from
    penicillin.

If you want an allopath to offer complimentary medical care, an ID bracelet with the following
    statements should help:

    No Medical Insurance

    Allergic to All Medications

    On Welfare

Call my spouse, a mal-practice attorney.

    DrC PhD.

  5. Report drug reactions to the pharmacy. They are in contact with the drug manufacturers and give
feedback. The doctors have no idea what goes on, nor do they want to know.

It should be pointed out that there is NO similar systematic collection of data for alternative
or complementary medicine, and those industries are fighting tooth and nail to prevent the
    imposition of one.

    I wonder why?

    Reporting Supplements

Years ago, at an NIH site (?), there was a place to report bad reactions to supplements.

No, there is no requirement of systematic reporting. A consumer can make an individual claim, but
medical treatment facilities are under no obligation.

What is worse is that the manufacturers are under no obligation to record, collect, complie and
    report to anyone.

It might be at the NCCAM site (National Center for Complimentary & Alternative Medicine)
    altmed.od.nih.govaltmed.od.nih.gov

Nope. That is not their job.
    -------------

    Rating Supplements

There's also independent testing of supplements, by places like consumerlab.comconsumerlab.com

Nope, that is not their job.

    -----------

    NOT Govt

Yep. That is their job. And the industry is scared [censored] that they may have to actually report
their problems to the government, where such reports wil lbe available under at least the FOIA.

For the most part, you can Not trust the govt to do, control, or regulate anything.

    So you say.

The huge govt bureaucracies tend to only be full of fraud, waste, corruption, special favors, pay-
    offs, kick-backs, & such. Greed & self-interest rule.

    So you say.

Just look at what harm the govt (aka global corporations) has now done, to the medical care system,
the legal system, law enforcement, & such.

Now, a good conspiracy is always a good way to prove nothing.

No, the information I gave can be used for alternative medicine as well as convenional medicine --
in fact, any product regulated by the FDA, such as foods, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.

And, it works. I've received lots of information on quack dietary supplements using the FOIA request
mechanism. That includes tons of stuff that the manufacturers don't want you to know.

    Perhaps I was not clear....

The manufacturers are NOT required to report advserse events, unless the FDA asks for them. The
FDA learns about it when the consumer makes a complaint or it becomes newsworthy, like the
    ephedra massacre.

What the new law will require is that the manufacturer must report to the FDA when they get a
    complaint.

That is the system in pharmaceuticals. It should be for all.

Actually Jan is driven not by attention or by hate. She is driven by a need to be accepted and to
have her delusional beliefs reinforced. Apparently in her real life she is unable to find enough
people to enable her. But mha is a large repository of enablers. She has found the proverbial

Actually, she gets almost no support here from the other alts.

I propose to you that, even to the extent that she craves approval from alts, she imagines it based
on the derision she draws: disapproval from sceptics substitutes for active approval.

You can gauge this by the way she goes about seeking attention. She does almost nothing by way of
stroking their particular pet topics (cell salts, ginseng, microzymas, iron, etc.) but by trashing
people. It's obvious that she's not looking for approval but opposition.

I disagree. It only appears as if she is looking for opposition. Her primary motivation is to trash
conventional medicine while promoting alternative medicine. The *result* of her trashing
conventional medicine is to get opposition from skeptics but getting opposition from skeptics is not
the primary goal, instead a secondary result.

When someone's pet topics are attacked by skeptics Jan often rushes in to defend the altie usually
    by attacking the skeptic.

People who primarily try to get opposition from others on usenet are called trolls. Are you
suggesting that Jan Drew is a troll whose primary motive is not to trash CM (?due to her rage at it)
and promote alternative medicine (especially her buddy Hulda Clark) but to get negative attention??
If so I respectfully disagree. Jan appears clearly motivated by her anger at CM due to her
perception that they misdiagnosed her and the behavior we see here is a byproduct of that rage.
