  1. Hi all.
I just bought a new folding bike, and it has a 7 speed rear cassette + shimano acera derailleur + revo shifter.

I truly hate those shifters, and want to get a rapidfire style shifter like the shimano deore shifter I had in my MTB.

Could you guys please recommend a shifter that will work with my setup and is affordable?

This will be only a temporary setup as in 6 months or so I'm looking to swap to a hub gear setup (still need to learn heaps to be able to do it myself though)

    thanks in advance.

  2. Shimano has been surprisingly unimaginative when it comes to shifters and derailers, you can use any 7-speed Shimano trigger shifter you can find.

But reconfiguring that bike for internal gear can be more work/money than you imagine. You're looking at either tracking down a ready built wheel(not that common in folding bike sizes) or having one custom built for you. Then you might encounter issues with axle length and dropout width.
Baseline recommendation for financial sense is: don't buy a bike with the intention of serious modifications straight off. Get one configured like you want it instead, it will most likely be both cheaper and less hassle.
