Want to swap out my old trek cycling computer for a garmin that also measures cadence, I am anal about my trip milage and want to be able to set my new computer to my current milage, can't seem to get an answer if I can do this, anybody know?

What kind of Garmin? As far as I know my Edge 305 does not have an odometer but the mileage is totaled and stored in the PC when downloaded.

the garmin 800 lets you do this. I've had mine a few weeks and love it. if you're a stats freak you'll love the amount of data you can get out of the 800 plus it lets you configure up to three screen to view when riding, each of which can contain up to 10 different metrics.

I don't see the need to purchased a dedicated cycle computer if you have a modern phone.
I bike with my iphone mounted to my handlebars and I use Runkeeper which rocks.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into the 800. I keep my iPhone in my pocket I'll also look at the run keeper app, I wanted to see cadence while riding.

i tried using my phone for a bit but found that battery life let me down on longer rides (over 60-70 miles). also i like having a dedicated unit that incorporates cadence and heart rate monitor functionality.
each to their own i guess!
