for the diet! Gotta look at these things in a positive light!

Boy, lucky you're over there! My sister had her gall bladder out in outpatients and drove herself
home afterwards ;-D It was done by micro surgery - what a wonderful advance since I had mine done!

Good luck with the surgery and let's hope you make it home for Christmas. If you don't then have
them bring Christmas too you. We did Thanksgiving one year at the hospital when my daughter was
sick. We cooked everything at home and brought all of the dishes to her room. Even shared some with
the nurses. You might not be able to eat that soon after the surgery but you certainly can do
presents or decorate your room. Make the best of things. Just think how much better you will feel
not having that GB acting up on you all of the time.

I've never tried that - well, apart from when I was pregnant, when oddly enough, the scales never
seemed to show any loss at all! *grin* You know the phrase "trust me I'm a doctor"? Well I reckon
"trust me we're hospital scales" is just as good!

Best of luck for your operation - hope it all goes as planned and that you're back home recovering
for Christmas Day. (well, I bet they don't want to have more people in than they have to so they'll
be trying doubly hard for you 🙂 )

Oh, this is planned! I got very unwell back in the summer: ended up in the hospital with severe
coliocystitus in June, and stayed a week while they got it under control. They wouldn't do the op
then because it was so badly inflamed and infected that the risk of peritonitis was too great. They
got the infection under control, reduced the inflammation, and it has been on continuous moderate
grumble mode ever since. The good thing about getting it done now is that it may mess up Christmas a
bit, but I will then be fit for any teaching that comes up in the new year, and for the bigger
sewing projects I have to do before March - like 3 bridesmaid dresses and a bunch of Power Suiting
for customers!

I'm not too bothered about them bringing Christmas to me in hospital! That last thing is what I
want! They thought it was funny when I said, I don't care if it hurts for a few days after the op:
that's a LOT better than it hurting all the time now!

They are very positive and up-beat there, and the hospital has a reasonably good reputation. The
nurses are great. The food is edible.

Not an option for me: I don't drive! I'm scheduled for keyhole surgery: I should end up with 4
small punctures about a centimetre long, and one about 2 cm long... BUT with the state mine was/is
in, they may have no option but to go for the open surgery, and I won't know which they did until
I wake up!

These ones had to be kick started, then jumped on before they switched off again! Accuracy not
guaranteed, as she said! However, it was a very pretty lie!

I had the open one, so I really do wish you the luck of the Irish and hope you get the keyhole one.
The good part is that once it's over - not matter which way - you don't get the pain & can eat
