Hi all New entry level bike?

Mark, welcome to the forum. I don't want to be responsible for you not getting the best bike for you so I am not going to do the picking. I will give you a few guidelines though. Go to your local bike shops, tell them what kind of riding you are going to be doing, and let them show you what they have. Make sure that you test ride any bike before you buy it just to be sure that it is the right one. In fact, you want to test ride a lot of bikes before you make your choice. That way you will be making an informed choice because you will know what feels wrong as opposed to what feels right. And don't just go to one shop. Go to as many shops as you can reasonably go to and look at as many brands of bike as possible. This may seem like a lot of work, but it is worth it when you finally hit the road.

What are your thoughts on the Massi master compact Alum frame, Ultegra front and rear, 105 chain set, exro lite wheels for £650?

Been in the shop for a while but unused.

I just responded to your question Mark but YET AGAIN after I tried to use the "Quote" it made my response dissappear. I'm going to just have to remember that the "Quote" function just completely BLOWS on this forum and remember not to use it.

Back to the subject. Massi is a lesser known Frame company. It's one of the larger in Spain but not well known outside of Spain. Some people will look down on Massi because they are familiar with the Italian Masi frame builder (which is highly respected). Some may think that a Massi is a "knockoff" which is not the case.

Now to the specific one you are talking about... I did a little research and came up with a couple of Massi frames on Ebay... to get a guage on price. An Alum Massi Master Compact with Campy Xenon components just went for 361.00 GBP. So I'm thinking that 600.00 GBP price on the one you're looking at might be a bit high... maybe not.

If the one you're looking at is in a shop, you might want to ask if it comes with any warranty. Because if it has a mixed group with Ultegra and 105 it's probably a used bike on consignment... (bikes don't typically EVER come with that sort of mixed group from the factory)

Good idea to look on Ebay, saw the one at £361 there is a new used posting with a starting bid of £600 (ultegra group set)

What did you mean by consignment ? And been chatting in a local bike shop today who told me that Massi use unusual groups, appears they are well known for it.

Problem is Toooo many decent bikes out there to choose from.
