Heart attacks, death, and the seemingly healthy...

If I die of a heart attack it won't be beacuse I was sitting my lazy butt on a couch or super sizing my French Fries and I can live with that.

Ironic choice of words...

I didn't know the guy, but this year we heard on the day we started the Cover Indiana Bike Tour that a guy planning to join us mid-week had a massive heart attack while training the previous day. He died doing something he loved. The bike shop owner of one of the little towns we stay in was with him when it happened, and several folks ended up not riding because the funeral was the day we left that town.

There are so many natural, unavoidable reasons to die of "heart attack", which is a catch-all phrase,
for so many possible causes of "sudden death".

For one instance, and there is no reason to dread what is inevitable, true story,

"Reid, I have been told over and again, since 1966, that I will die at any moment,

It's a bad heart valve, rheumatic fever I had as a kid. I won't let them carve me up for a new valve,

About two months later, it was, I got a phone call one Saturday morning,

I'm old enough to remember Jim Fixx. Google the name and you will come up the an old New York Times article, 24 July 1984, that begins "THE first symptom of heart disease is sometimes sudden death." Really? Who would have thought?
