Hi there, I'm moving to Boulder Co in a couple months, selling my POS car and gonna bike it from here on. I want to ride to school about 3 mi a day, but also want to go for rides in the mountains. What features should I be looking for? I was thinking maybe getting a mountain bike frame with both mountain and road wheels and just change them a lot. Is that a bad idea? What else should I keep in mind? Thanks a lot for your advice!

you can make do with a mountain bike, no need to worry for the 3 miles commuting as it is a very short distance,

You should look for it to have shocks on the bike. I don't know how much you're willing to spend. For a very affordable bike the GT Aggresspr may be a good choice for a bike that can handle both situations very well.
