I've got this super gear pattern worked out that requires these even front steps.

I don't know what your rear cogs will be. Finding a front derailleur that will shift the rings and
be long enough so that the chain doesn't drag on the bottom of the front derailleur in a combination
like 24/23 is a task. Also, you'll have a much easier time finding 52/36 or
50/34 rings.

A pre microdrive XT, XTR derailleur would be my first guess. With new front derailleurs, try a
DuraAce triple.

Reconsider your choices and try to make gearing so that you use all three chainrings instead of a
normal range with a bale out.

Any Campy derailleur will shift that fine. I have used mine with a
22/32/48 which is essentially equivalent. Large jups, though, so a chain watcher will be a good idea
just in case.

Most Shimano shifters/levers will also work. They will not be within their spec's, but still they
will work. You do need a long-cage rear derailleur, of course.

The rear is 11-34 seven speeds.

The front represents double step gearing, that is, two bail outs and two real high gears. The
steps between 11 and 34 are even: 11-13-16-19-23-28-34. There are eleven distinct gears with about
650 % range.

I rule out three diagonally opposite combinations at each end of the gear chart. I am building a
lock out or a PC board warning device to avoide those combinations. I intend to use all three rings
as evenly as possible.

The front shifter is Alivio, on straight handlebars.

If a Campy derailer shifts this combination best, then that is what I will buy. And try. And love, I
expect. It sometimes pays to buy the best.

Is there a particular Campy derailer that will work with my Alivio index shifter on these gears?
Will I still be able to shift on the fly without emulating a friction shifter with my thumb?

By using the duplicates I hope to even wear in the middle of the speed range.

My tandem, 52/42/28 didn't do that great with a Campy Racing-T. Certainly it shifted up and down the
the bottom of the front derailleur cage dragged the chain in 28/21. My rear cassette is
12/32. With the DA Triple, I had to increase the big ring to a 53 but had a larger range with the
small ring. What works best is a early 90s XTR front derailleur.
