  1. Yikes, I gotta rant about this. They held it for many years in Livingston County, 40 miles W. of Detroit, which is semi-rural, a great place to ride, generally light traffic.

This year, right in the thick of Ann Arbor, a larger city, with suburbs, a lot of traffic, two major freeways, and the University of Michigan. Downtown is very congested, heavy traffic, street parking, a lot of shopping, restaurants, entertainment, so a lot of obstacles. Fine if you're with the pack and get the police escort. If you break away on your own, either too fast or too slow, good luck playing dodge-'em.

    Why, ADA Michigan? Why????????

  2. a university town should have a good percentage of cycle traffic almost year round, no? madison, wi certainly does and a quick check shows madison to be twice as large. not trying to downplay your concerns, but we all have developed certain traffic survival skills by the point at which we can participate in the ride.

  3. Oh, I'm sure they do -- my traffic skills suck at this point, however. I will survive, no doubt.
