  1. Hi,

I just joined the forum, cause I just received from a cousin a very old Canondale R400 from 1994 (Shimano RSX100 fully equipped).
I am a VTT rider, but a lot of friend of mine want me to join them on the road.

Thing is, it was not used for at least 3-4 years, and it was kept outside (but rain protected) all this time...

So the first question is, is it worthy to have it renewed?

As far as I can see, the frame is still perfect, and the alu wheel as well, but of course all the rest is basically oxidized.
So I guess, a total new groupset should be adapted.

Second question is, which groupsets are adaptable for sure ?

Thanks a lot for your feedback and advice !
    Avro

  2. Don't rush into upgrading before you even know if you like the bike. Have a good mechanic tune the bike. This will include a thorough cleaning and probably new brake and shift cables, new brake pads, new tires, and a fresh handlebar wrap. If everything works, you'll keep up.
