I assume I am not the only person to read only selected messages based on their subject. It occurred to me last night that I hadn't seen a post from Simon Mason for a while.
Sadly, I searched on google and discovered why.
Come back Simon, we (I) miss you!
Cheers from Rich x

Well, you probably know the old adage about arguing on the Internet.
Having just read the thread, I thought it was a pretty pointless thing for people to get so worked up about - and there are killfiles if you really don't get on with someone.

I did some googling on google groups and I think Simon decided to quit the group after being verbally abused by another poster in repsonse to a message Simon posted and mailed to CW regarding cheap bikes. The conversation was around 24th November IIRC.

What's happened???
Do a google advanced search for uk.rec.cycling with author simon mason. It seems he decided to leave us last month after feeling insulted by another poster.
Whether or not that feeling was justified is not for me to decide.
I sent him an email to say he'd been missed!
In a way I'm glad I found his last message as it means he is physically OK.
Love and hugs from Rich x

My sister-in-law got me copy of '[censored] Towns' for xmas. A certain Simon Mason appears on page 152 to defend Hull!
Britain's crappest town BTW.

I enjoyed Simons' contributions too. You have to be a bit thick skinned if you post as there is always someone who'll contradict you just for the hell of it and try to wind you up. It's our loss and I hope you come back Simon.

Perhaps he's got ... a life?

I'm glad I didn't see your post until there were already some followups. I read news offline, and seldom have time to do my own research on dark hints.

He'd certainly be welcome. But valued newsgroup contributors come and go.
