  1. I have an older Klein - beautiful frame, but it drives me crazy that I'm limited to older model
cranks on the 113mm BB spindle. Anyone have any experience with trying to thread one of these
shells? Any other bearing spindle combos out there? Mike

  2. At 35mm ID, it can be Ital threaded. There are inserts that can be installed to produce BSA or the
standard we are used to. Tom

Made the same inquiry when I was riding my Klein Quantum II, initially just out of curiosity. My
first bike mechanic had successfully tapped the BB shell for another customer. When I started to
seriously consider it my new LBS (Elliot Bay Bicycles, Seattle) wouldn't do it citing the thinness
of the BB shell. So I scuttled the idea.

    Good luck,

    Brian Ray

Will one of those BBs with two lockrings, designed for damaged shells, fit? If so, at least the bike
    will still be original.
