Supposedly the fight was during the warm down laps after the race. During the race there was a bunch of bumping...more intense than usual according to what I've read.

I don't know what the cause of the crash was...punches thrown while riding? A fall during the last lap? No clue. In any event the rider in blue that was wailing away on the rider in black on the deck was fired from his team and I imagine our sanctioning body, USAC / USCF will also penalize number 67 for the punches thrown.

Who knows? They might have been well justified.

Throw him out. We don't need people like him in the league, let alone in a bike race. I give credit to the person who got beat up for keeping his cool though.

I don't know if you've ever crashed during a race and landed in a heap of bikes and riders, but sometimes you can be a little...confused. The crash may have been intentional. We just don't have any information or evidence to go by.

The guy was down and the other guy was on his feet...advantage to the standing aggressor. Also, just standing up from being on your can on a wet street in slippery cycling shoes can be a challenge without the added distraction of someone thumping on you.

The aggressor...I guess nude models can get pretty [censored]!...was a team mate of the black rider that was trying to get the fight stopped.

The rider that came flying into the scene hard on his brakes to snag the guy throwing the punches was kind of funny, yet I applaud him for getting involved and trying to defuse the situation.

I've only witnessed a couple of actual fist fights at or during races, but the potential for one was always there.

When I use to race back in the caveman era I remember tempers flying, everyone is being competitive and egotistical and the juices are flowing something stupid happens and next thing you knew words and or pushing and shoving was going on, but I can't recall fists ever flying in my circles. I doubt this happens very much in pro racing as it does in the lower ranks though.

I watched a guy take a roundhouse swing at one of my team mates in a pack of 60 or so guys as we climbed a light grade, three wide. He missed, but that scattered the pack across the road, almost caused a crash and a bunch of guys told them to settle it at the side of the road.

I've seen a couple of post-race parking lot scuffles to settle [censored] that happened during the race.

Months later and I'm still finding this amusing.

Just the absurdness of it and the expression of the guy at the end make it for me.

This is absolutely terrible. Fights like these don't belong in cycling and should be avoided at all costs. Cyclists should keep their cool and try to respect their fellow cyclists. I often complain about how terrible motor vehicle drivers are and their inclination towards road rage, which often turn deadly. We don't want to be emulating them and show that we're far better road users.

In order for us cyclists to get to the point of being better road users we need to obey traffic laws and not make motorists po'd at us because we're riding our bikes without any regard to the laws or our own safety.

There's bad apples on both sides dude. You're always gonna get that one pee'd-off guy in a Toyota truck trying to cut you up, or one guy weaving through traffic knocking everyone's mirrors as they go.
