Compare Selle Italia saddle against Terry

I can comment on the Flite, and I'll set this up by saying I have ridden a San Marco Rolls for the last 15 years. My back side could never adjust to the Flite, (the design of it was too different from what I was use to) it was wide enough in the 'sit bones' area, but was also to flat in that area as well. (My Rolls seems to crown and slope away where my sit bones contact the saddle). I had a chance to try a Terry Fly, but didn't care for the all the padding/cushion in the saddle. (It was also a little on the narrow side for me as well). Hope this helps.

I switched from the Flite to the Terry Fly Ti after a 100 mile ride that ended with a "numbness issue" that didn't go away fro a couple of days.

I haven't had numbness since switching to the Fly and routinely do 80 to 100 mile rides at 20 mph.

BTW, I also switched riding styles a little and make a point of getting up out of my seat every ten minutes or so. Also, I'm out of my seat powering out of turns and up rolling hills.

i've used the classic Flite for over a decade and then changed to the Dragonfly when replacing the saddle.

for me, the Dragonfly doesn't "fit" my rear as well as the Flite and caused pain and numbness, despite having the cutout. i replaced the saddle with a Selle Italia SLR saddle and have had no problems since.

as painful as it sounds (no pun intended), you probably need to ride the difference saddles to see how they feel. saddle choice is too personal to ask others opinions (unless it's your twin with idential pelvic bone structure and riding habits).

perhaps you know folks who have already tried various saddles and can let you test drive some of the extras they may have lying around?

Asking people about saddles is a bit pointless. What fits one [censored] does not necessarily fit another. Your best bet is to find an LBS that sells the saddles your interested in. Then tell them your going to by a new saddle from them and you want to test ride several until you find the right one. Any good shop will let you test ride until you find the right one.

I know a guy who bought like 5 or 6 of his fav. saddle when he found out the manufacturer had ceased production.

I missed out - Selle Italia Flite Transam is no more.... Now its a gel flow which just looks like too much padding for me. SLK looks the go (depending on fit) but tube rails - not a good look in a $AUS250 saddle.
