It's always hard sometimes if you're searching for a new bike, everytime im looking for one I hot the local bike shops and the internet but I can't seem to find one to my liking. I always end up buying one from a friend or an acquaintance. I bought a slightly used GT Chucker 3.0, two weeks back and it suits my body perfectly, I bought it from a friend who needs some cash and got it for a nice price.
You can try the BATTLE Brand, they do have a lot of sturdy models like the Battle 580-D, 30 speed Alloy Hydraulic DB MTB
I have been avoiding to comment on this topic because it excites me. I also have a plan to buy a new bike although not in the near future. Anyway, my suggestion is for you to go to a friendly bike shop that allows a customer to try out the bike. First point is the size particularly the height that should be commensurate to your built. Second point is the ease of pushing the pedal. If there is difficulty then adjustments can correct it otherwise that bike is not for you. You also have to check the feel of the saddle. And lastly, is it easy to steer or navigate?
