Are you people seriously suggesting that cyclists with service animals or assistance dogs should be exempt from wearing helmets? I mean, come on, dont you think thats a recipe for disaster? Its not like the animal is going to magically protect the riders head in the event of a crash. And what about the added liability of having an animal attached to the rider? Its a lawsuit waiting to happen.
And another thing, how do you even design a helmet to accommodate a service animal? Would it need to be some sort of special harness-helmet hybrid? And wouldnt that compromise the structural integrity of the helmet itself? I mean, Ive seen some ridiculous things in my time as a cyclist, but this takes the cake.
So, can someone please explain to me how this is supposed to work? Are we just supposed to ignore the safety implications and hope for the best? Because from where Im sitting, it seems like a bunch of nonsense.
