Whats the point of even bothering with a new rear derailleur on technical descents if youre just going to ride like a reckless idiot who cant even be bothered to learn basic bike handling skills? Do people really think a shiny new derailleur is going to magically make them better riders, or are they just trying to compensate for their lack of actual talent?
And dont even get me started on the whole testing it out thing - are you guys seriously just throwing caution to the wind and riding like maniacs just to see how your new gear holds up? Whats the worst that could happen, right? You could crash and hurt yourself, or maybe even take out someone else on the trail. But hey, at least your derailleur will be getting a good workout.
And whats with the obsession with technical descents, anyway? Is it just a case of look at me, Im a big boy and I can ride the hard stuff? Newsflash: just because you can ride a technical descent doesnt mean you should. And it definitely doesnt mean youre a good rider.
So, I ask you: whats the real point of testing out a new rear derailleur on technical descents? Is it just a ego trip, or is there actually some legitimate reason for it? And if so, what is it?
