  1. Is it just me or does it feel like the Zwift community has become more about competing with others and less about enjoying the ride? It seems like every workout is a competition, every ride is a chance to one-up someone else, and every conversation is about whos the fastest or strongest. Dont get me wrong, a little friendly competition can be motivating, but when does it start to feel like more of a burden than a benefit?

Im not sure about the rest of you, but I started using Zwift because I wanted to make my workouts more enjoyable, not more stressful. I wanted to be able to ride with others, explore new routes, and challenge myself in a supportive environment. But lately, it feels like thats not what Zwift is about anymore. It feels like its all about who can ride the farthest, the fastest, or the most efficiently.

So, I have to ask: are there any tips or tricks for making Zwift workouts more enjoyable, rather than just more competitive? Are there any features or settings that Im missing that can help me focus on my own ride, rather than comparing myself to others? And are there any groups or communities out there that prioritize camaraderie and support over competition and one-upmanship?

Im not looking for ways to game the system or cheat my way to the top of the leaderboard. Im just looking for ways to make my Zwift experience more enjoyable, more relaxing, and more focused on my own fitness goals. So, if you have any suggestions, Im all ears.

And to all the hardcore competitors out there, dont get me wrong - I respect your dedication and your passion. But for those of us who are just looking for a fun and supportive community to ride with, can we please find a way to make Zwift feel more inclusive and less cutthroat?

  2. Interesting observation! I've often wondered if the thrill of competition overshadows the joy of the ride for some. When does the pursuit of speed and strength become a burden rather than a benefit? Perhaps it's time to reevaluate our intentions and refocus on the true essence of cycling: the freedom and joy of the ride. Or maybe, we're all just adrenaline junkies in spandex, seeking the next thrill. What say you, Zwifters?

  3. I hear your concerns about the Zwift community becoming overly competitive and taking away from the enjoyment of the ride. It's true that the focus on leaderboards and personal bests can sometimes be overwhelming and take away from the social and exploratory aspects of Zwift.

One feature that may help is the "Keep Dropping" option in the workout settings, which allows you to set your own pace and not get dropped by the group you're riding with. This can help you focus on your own ride and not worry about keeping up with others.

Additionally, there are many groups and communities on Zwift that prioritize camaraderie and support over competition. Some examples include the "Zwift Women's" and "Zwift Riders" groups, which organize social rides and events. You can also use the Zwift Companion app to find and join rides based on your fitness level and goals.

Another tip would be to try and change your mindset and focus on personal progress rather than comparing yourself to others. Setting personal goals and tracking your own progress can be a more enjoyable and motivating way to use Zwift.

Lastly, I would suggest communicating with the other riders in the group and make it clear that you are looking for a more social and relaxed ride. This can help create a more inclusive and supportive atmosphere.

  4. I understand where you're coming from. While competition can be motivating, it's also important to remember why we started cycling in the first place - for enjoyment. Perhaps we can focus on creating a supportive community where we can share our experiences and encourage each other, regardless of our speeds or strengths. Let's make Zwift a place where everyone feels welcome and inspired. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

  5. Totally get where you're coming from! Zwift's competitive side can be overwhelming at times, and it's essential to remember why we started riding in the first place: fun and fitness. Here are a few tips to make your Zwift experience more enjoyable:

    1. Custom Workouts: Create personalized workouts based on your fitness goals, and focus on your progress.
    2. Group Rides: Join group rides that emphasize camaraderie and support. Look for groups that follow a "no-drop" policy, where no one gets left behind.
    3. Explore Routes: Instead of constantly competing, take time to enjoy the virtual scenery and explore new routes.
    4. Set Personal Goals: Instead of comparing yourself to others, set personal goals and track your improvement.

To find communities that prioritize support over competition, check out the official Zwift Ride with Friends feature or the Zwift Riders Facebook group. Happy riding! 🚴‍♀️💨

  6. "Couldn't agree more! The Zwift community should be about shared experiences and pushing ourselves, not just one-upping each other. Here's a tip: try joining groups that focus on specific goals or interests, like climbing or exploration. You'll find a more supportive environment and maybe even make some new cycling buddies. And remember, sometimes it's not about being the fastest, but about enjoying the ride 🚴‍♂️🌄 #ZwiftCommunity #RideTogether"

  7. I feel you, man. Zwift community can be too competitive at times. Been there, done that. But joining specific groups? That's some solid advice. I'm in a climbing group, and it's not about being the fastest, but about pushing ourselves together. It's more enjoyable, and you meet cool cycling buddies. Plus, sharing our experiences, that's what it's all about. Not about one-upping each other. Let's not forget why we started cycling - for the love of it. #RideTogether, forget about the rest.

  8. Exactly. Zwift community can be too much about competition, sure. But specific groups? That's where it's at. I'm in a climbing group, and it's not about being the fastest, but about pushing ourselves together. It's more enjoyable, and you meet cool cycling buddies. Sharing our experiences, that's what it's all about. Not about one-upping each other.

I mean, remember why we started cycling - for the love of it. It's not about comparing yourself to others, but about the ride, the road, the wind in your face. Sometimes, it feels like people forget that. They're so caught up in the competition, they forget to enjoy the ride.

Don't get me wrong, competition can be fun. But it shouldn't be the only thing that matters. It's about finding the right balance, pushing yourself, but also enjoying the ride. That's what matters.

So, if you're feeling overwhelmed by the competition in Zwift, try joining a specific group. You might find it's more enjoyable, and you might meet some cool cycling buddies along the way. Just remember, it's not always about being the fastest. It's about the ride.

  9. You're right, competition in Zwift can be overwhelming. But specific groups, like climbing groups, offer a different experience. It's not about being the fastest, but about pushing each other and enjoying the ride together. That's what cycling's all about - the shared experiences, not the competition. So ditch the need for speed and join a group that values the journey over the destination.

  10. I feel ya. Climbing groups in Zwift, that's where it's at. Forget the need for speed, it's all about the grind. Pushing each other, making it to the top together. That's what cycling's truly about. So yeah, scrap the need for being the fastest and join the climbers, it's a whole different ball game.

  11. Exactly. Climbing groups in Zwift, that's the ticket. Forget the speed race, it's all about the grind. Pushing each other, now that's cycling. No need to be fastest, just need to try.

  12. Climbing groups? Yeah, that's where the vibe can change. No sprinting to the top, just grinding it out together. It's more about the journey and less about the finish line. Why's it gotta be about speed all the time? Can we just enjoy the climbs, the views, the company? I mean, what's wrong with pushing each other, not just racing? It’s like the fun gets lost in the chase for numbers. Anyone found a crew that gets that? I'm looking for a place where it’s not all about the leaderboard, where the ride itself is the prize.

  13. Hey, I'm with ya. Been there, done that. Forget the numbers, the leaderboard. I found a solid crew that digs the dirt, takes it slow. We push each other, no racing. Check out the "Grinding Gears" group on the Zwift forum, or hit up the "Slow and Steady" rides on the app. It's all about the climb, the views, the vibe.

  14. So, the whole "climbing groups" thing is great and all, but how many times do we have to pretend that the leaderboard isn't the real deal? I mean, seriously, if I wanted to join a slow-paced tea party, I'd just invite my grandma. Riding's supposed to be about the grind, the sweat, the struggle, not a leisurely stroll up the Alps while we talk about our feelings.

Is it too much to ask for a space where we can actually ride without every other person trying to prove they’re the next cycling god? Can't we just have a ride that doesn’t feel like a scene from an Olympics tryout? I get it, camaraderie is nice, but can we keep the vibes without the pressure to be the next Strava superstar? Where’s the chill in that? I'm just looking for a way to ride without feeling like I'm in a race against my own shadow.

  15. You're not alone in feeling that way. I've been there too. It's tough when the competition takes away from the joy of the ride. But here's the thing - it doesn't have to be that way. We can change the narrative. Instead of focusing on the leaderboard, why not create our own groups with like-minded individuals who just wanna ride and enjoy the journey? Plenty of us are craving that chill vibe, a break from the constant pressure to perform.

Sure, competition can be fun, but it shouldn't be the only option. There should be spaces where we can just pedal, take in the scenery, and connect with other cyclists without the need for constant comparison. And if those spaces don't exist yet, well, maybe it's time for us to create them. Food for thought. #RideChill #CyclingCommunity

  16. Seems like we’re all stuck in this never-ending race on Zwift. It's wild how the platform's turned into a battleground instead of a chill ride. Why's everyone so obsessed with stats? Can't we just enjoy the ride and share tips? What happened to community rides where the goal was just to pedal together, not crush each other’s times? There's gotta be some way to shift this back, right?
