I used to watch the Giro via Eutelsat Hotbird 13deg E analog; either International Eurosport or RAI (when I got fed up of listening to DD). Now Eurosport no longer transmits analog on HBird and RAI have started using soft encryption (line shifting) whenever some sport is on. I was having to make do with British Eurosport via my cable company :-( . Very unsatisfactory , as I don't want to miss cycling every time BrEuSp decide tennis is more important:-<<
Now, I have been given a digital satellite receiver. So, can anyone tell me a) where can I find International Eurosprort FreeToAir? Is there one? b) Does RAI on 11766 encrypt the sport? I can get all RAI channels on this freq FTA at the moment.

There were several instances last year when the broadcasts suddenly cut to German commentary and even tennis (also with German commentary). When questioned, Eurosport stated that their European analogue broadcasts were not intended for FTA reception in the UK. -- Victor Meldrew

Yes, I would call it unreliable now (but at least it's free). Sadly, analogue satelite TV is virtually dead for English-speaking viewers in the UK. It always suprprises me how quickly one technology is killed off to make way (or save money) for the new.
Will the Giro be covered by Europsort this year anyway? I know they've had trouble getting the rights some years.
Eurosport International is still FTA on Astra Digital in German.... Sometimes they forget to encrypt ESP (which are the various language variations).
