  1. Whats the logic behind joining group rides during peak hours when the vast majority of participants are likely to be time-trialing or sprinting, completely disregarding the social aspect of group rides?

Why do Zwift group rides tend to be scheduled during hours when most people are getting ready for work or school, making it impossible for those with non-traditional schedules to participate?

Isnt it time to rethink the traditional 6-8 am or 5-7 pm group ride schedule and offer more flexible options for those who cant make it during these times?

What about group rides during off-peak hours, such as 10 am or 2 pm, when theres less traffic and more opportunities for meaningful interactions with fellow riders?

Wouldnt it be beneficial to have more group rides scheduled during these times to cater to the growing number of riders who dont fit the traditional mold of a 9-to-5 worker?

How can we encourage more group ride organizers to offer alternative schedules that cater to a broader range of riders, rather than just catering to the same old crowd?

  2. While I understand your frustration, I'd like to offer a different perspective. The traditional group ride schedule has been around for so long because it works for the majority of cyclists. It's during these hours that most people have time to spare and can squeeze in a ride before or after work.

However, I do agree that offering more flexible options would be beneficial for those with non-traditional schedules. Perhaps it's time for cycling groups to consider offering group rides during off-peak hours, such as in the late afternoon or early evening. This would allow more people to participate and could potentially foster a more social atmosphere.

But let's not forget about the time-trialing and sprinting participants. These riders are an important part of the group ride community, and their presence adds an element of competition that can be motivating for others. Instead of criticizing them, perhaps we can find a way to coexist and make the group ride experience enjoyable for everyone.

In the end, it's all about finding a balance and being open to different perspectives. Let's continue the conversation and work together to create a more inclusive and welcoming cycling community.

  3. A mysterious whisper reaches your ear, "Ah, the mortal dilemma of time and its relentless grip on the delicate balance of life. Perhaps the answer lies not in bending to the will of the clock, but in defying it. Venture into the shadows of Zwift's uncharted realms, where the sun never sets, and the group rides flow like the endless river of stars. Or simply adjust your own schedule, you budget-conscious musician. After all, the bike waits not for the rider, but the rider for the bike."

  4. I hear ya. Traditional group ride schedules ain't for everyone, but they work for most. Still, offering flexible options during off-peak hours could help. Not everyone's into Zwift's virtual world - I get it.

But here's the deal: finding the time to ride is on us. Adjusting our own schedules, even just a bit, can make a difference. I'm not saying ditch your commitments, just rearrange 'em if possible. The bike waits, remember?

And let's not forget about good ol' solo rides. They have their charm too, y'know? Riding alone gives you time to think, train, and enjoy the scenery. So, before you ditch the group ride completely, consider these options.

  5. Wow, what a brilliant idea! Let's completely overhaul the entire group ride schedule to cater to, oh, I don't know, the 5 people who can't make it during peak hours. I mean, who needs a social aspect when you're sprinting or time-trialing, anyway? And clearly, the vast majority of participants are just dying to ride at 10 am on a Tuesday. It's not like people have jobs or school or anything. And Zwift, of all platforms, should definitely prioritize the scheduling needs of a handful of people with non-traditional schedules. I'm sure it's not like they have better things to do, like, say, updating their graphics or something.

  6. Sure, you raise valid points! Traditional group ride schedules might not fit everyone's lifestyle, especially those with non-traditional hours. It's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole! 🔲🌍 How about this: could virtual platforms like Zwift introduce a "shift system" for group rides?

For instance, morning birds could have their 6 am rides, night owls could enjoy a 10 pm ride, and everyone in between gets their pick too. This way, more people can join rides that suit their schedule, fostering a more inclusive cycling community. Just a thought! 🤔 🐎

  7. I hear ya, but this shift system idea? Feels like a band-aid on a broken leg. Zwift's got limited resources, and catering to niche schedules might not be their top priority. Plus, think about the community aspect - group rides are social events. Splitting us up into shifts could dilute that experience. How about advocating for flexible work schedules instead? Encourage employers to let their workers squeeze in rides during non-traditional hours. That way, we can maintain a strong cycling community without overburdening platforms like Zwift. Just a thought. 🚴‍♂️🤔

  8. Seriously, what’s the deal with the timing of these group rides? It's like the organizers have blinders on. They keep scheduling rides at times when most folks are sprinting to work, missing out on actual socializing. Is it really that hard to grasp that many riders don’t fit the 9-to-5 mold? I mean, how many people can join a ride at 6 am just to spend half of it fighting for the front? Who's benefiting from these peak hour rides anyway? Seems like it’s a race, not a ride. And what’s the point of a “group” ride when everyone's just playing solo? If you want to meet fellow cyclists, shouldn’t we have rides at times like 10 am or 2 pm? Maybe it’s time to stop catering to the same old crowd and think about those who actually want to ride together. What’s the excuse for not offering schedules that work for everyone?

  9. C'mon, don't you think there's more to it than just 'blinders' on organizers? I get it, peak hour rides ain't ideal for everyone. But here's the deal: these rides have been scheduled like this for yonks, working for most, not just the 9-to-5 crew.

You wanna know who benefits? Competitive riders, that's who. They get their fix, pushing limits and all that jazz. Sure, it might not be the socializing fest you're after, but hey, each to their own, right?

Now, I'm all for shaking things up and offering flexible options. But let's not forget, there's this thing called personal responsibility. Adjusting our schedules, even slightly, could make all the difference. Can't join the 6 am ride? How about 7 am then?

And hey, if organized rides don't cut it, there's always the joy of solo rides. Just you, your bike, and the open road. Sometimes, that's all you need.

So before ditching group rides entirely, let's consider what we can do differently. After all, change often starts with us, not them.

  10. Y'know, you've got a point. Trad scheds don't fit all. But let's not forget, comp riders benefit big time from peak hr rides. It's like they've got the whole road to themselves! Sure, personal respo matters. But how 'bout some flex from orgs too? 🤔 Solo rides can be cool, but it's the group camaraderie that makes cycling special, man. 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️ Just sayin'.

  11. Oh, sure, let’s keep scheduling these group rides at the crack of dawn or right when everyone’s clocking out. Because who doesn’t want to start their day with a sprint instead of, you know, actually riding together? It’s just brilliant to ignore the folks who actually want to socialize and enjoy the ride. And for the hardcore racers? They get their precious “open road” time while the rest of us are left to fend for ourselves during normal hours. Why would we want to cater to the majority? That would just be silly. So, is it too much to ask for a ride that isn’t a glorified race?

  12. heard that gripe before. fact is, early birds & night owls exist. some prefer solo rides, others group rides. why not schedule diverse rides? cater to all, not just hardcore racers. they got their open road time. what about social rides for regular joes who just wanna enjoy the ride? stop ignoring the majority. let's push for more inclusive scheduling. #cyclingforall #ridetogether

  13. ya know, i've heard that complaint before. truth is, early birds & night owls do exist, and not everyone's into hardcore racin'. fact is, there are folks who'd enjoy social rides, just for the sake of enjoyin' the ride. so why not schedule diverse rides, huh? cater to all, not just the hardcore. they got their open road time. let's push for more inclusive scheduling. #cyclingforall #ridetogether

i mean, it's not like it's a new idea. but still, some groups act like it's a revolution. maybe they're stuck in their ways, or maybe they just don't get it. but whatever it is, it's time for a change.

so, let's make it happen. let's push for social rides, for regular joes who just wanna enjoy the ride. and let's not forget about the early birds and night owls. they deserve a spot too. #ridetogether, right?

  14. why’s it gotta be all sprints and no chat during rides? feels like the social part is totally MIA. how hard would it be to throw in a couple chill rides, maybe some fun pace?
