Whats the point of having a cycling coach if they cant even tell you that your bike is a piece of junk and you need to upgrade to something that doesnt weigh as much as a small car? Seriously, how do you know if your coach is the right fit for you if theyre just coddling your fragile ego and telling you that your trusty old steed is still good to go?
Do coaches have a responsibility to be brutally honest about your bike, your skills, and your overall cycling prowess, or are they just there to hold your hand and tell you everything is going to be okay? And if theyre not willing to tell you the hard truth, are they really worth the money youre paying them?
Is it better to have a coach whos a total hard-nose and will push you to your limits, even if it means risking a few broken bones and bruised egos, or someone whos a bit more laid back and will let you coast through your training sessions? And how do you even know what kind of coach you need, anyway?
Are there any coaches out there who will actually tell you that youre wasting your time and money on a bike thats not suited to your riding style, or are they all just trying to make a quick buck off of gullible cyclists? And if you do find a coach whos willing to tell you the truth, how do you know theyre not just trying to sell you a new bike or a bunch of fancy gear?
