Whats the point of having a high-powered bike light if its just going to shatter the first time you hit a pothole or drop your bike? Is the light constructed with durable materials that can withstand impacts, or is it just a fragile piece of electronics waiting to be broken?
It seems like every bike light manufacturer claims to have designed their product with durability in mind, but how can you really trust those claims? What kind of testing have they done to ensure their light can withstand the rigors of regular use?
Have any of you had experience with bike lights that have been able to withstand serious impacts without breaking? What features should we be looking for in a bike light to ensure its built to last?
Are there any specific materials or designs that are inherently more durable than others? Should we be looking for lights with rubberized casings or metal housings?
What about the mounting systems - are there any that are more secure than others, or is it just a matter of finding a light that fits your bikes specific mounting system?
Its frustrating to spend a lot of money on a bike light only to have it break after a few months of use. Can we trust the manufacturers claims, or do we need to take matters into our own hands and start doing our own durability testing?
