Are public transit apps truly optimized for bike commuters, or are they simply a tool for people who cant or wont ride a bike the entire distance to their destination. Ive noticed that many of these apps prioritize route efficiency for transit users, but often neglect to provide detailed information about bike lanes, traffic patterns, and road conditions that are crucial for a safe and efficient bike commute.
It seems to me that many of these apps are designed with the assumption that bike commuters will simply follow the same route as cars or transit vehicles, without taking into account the unique needs and challenges of cycling. For example, some apps may recommend routes that involve busy highways or roads with no bike lanes, which can be hazardous for cyclists.
Furthermore, Ive found that some public transit apps dont even allow users to filter routes by bikeability, or provide information about bike-share programs or bike parking options. This lack of consideration for bike commuters is not only frustrating, but it also undermines the efforts of cities to promote sustainable and environmentally-friendly transportation options.
So, Id like to ask: are there any public transit apps that genuinely prioritize the needs of bike commuters, and provide the kind of detailed information and route planning tools that we need to navigate safely and efficiently. Or are we stuck using apps that are primarily designed for non-cyclists, and simply trying to make the best of a bad situation.
