Should cyclists focus on specific variations of squats, such as back squats or front squats, or would bodyweight squats be sufficient for generating power improvements? Furthermore, how does the impact of squats on cycling power output compare to other exercises, like lunges, deadlifts, or step-ups, which also target similar muscle groups? Are the benefits of squats for cycling power output more related to neuromuscular adaptations or actual muscular strength gains? If neuromuscular adaptations play a significant role, would shorter, more intense squat workouts be more effective than longer, more traditional strength training sessions?
