So apparently the navigation system on Zwift is supposed to be this super intuitive, user-friendly thing thats going to revolutionize the way we ride indoors, but honestly, Im still not getting it. Is it just me, or does the virtual map actually make it harder to navigate? I mean, Ive been riding on Zwift for a while now, and I still manage to get lost in the same old places every time.
Ive been following the recommended routes, trying to stick to the roads and avoid the dirt paths, but somehow I still end up getting turned around and ending up on some random route that I didnt mean to take. And dont even get me started on the intersections - I swear, the arrows are just there to confuse me. Ive been trying to use the mini-map to help me out, but its just not doing the trick.
Can someone please explain to me how to actually use the virtual map to navigate effectively? Like, whats the deal with the different colors and symbols? And how do I know which roads are going to lead me to where I want to go? Ive been trying to use the route markers, but they just seem to disappear on me whenever I need them most.
And while were at it, can someone explain to me why the map doesnt actually show me where I am in relation to the rest of the route? I mean, I can see the little flag that indicates the start and finish lines, but thats about it. How am I supposed to know if Im actually on track to finish the ride or if Ive taken a wrong turn somewhere?
Im starting to think that the only people who can actually use the virtual map effectively are the ones who have been using Zwift since the beginning and have just gotten used to its quirks. But for the rest of us, its just a confusing mess. So, can someone please shed some light on how to actually use this thing? Or are we all just supposed to wing it and hope for the best?
