Whats the point of spending thousands of dollars on high-end road bikes if most people cant even be bothered to learn basic bike maintenance and instead rely on their local bike shop to do everything for them?
If youre going to ride a road bike, shouldnt you at least know how to properly clean and lubricate the chain, replace a tire, and adjust the brakes?
Whats the bare minimum level of mechanical competence that someone should have before calling themselves a road cyclist, and why do so many people seem to think its acceptable to be completely clueless when it comes to bike maintenance?
Are there any essential gear and equipment for road cycling that can somehow magically compensate for a lack of basic mechanical skills, or is this just a case of people being more concerned with looking the part than actually being able to ride safely and efficiently?
