Whats the point of even calling it an eBike if it cant handle a little extra weight? I mean, who uses these things to just cruise around with a feather in their hair? Newsflash: people use eBikes to haul stuff, and if your precious battery cant handle a few extra pounds, then whats the point?
So heres the question: whats the real-world power output and speed of an eBike when its loaded down with a heavy payload or cargo? Dont give me any of that up to 250 watts nonsense or up to 28mph marketing speak. I want to know what happens when you strap a 50-pound kid to the back of this thing, or load it up with a weeks worth of groceries.
Do these eBikes just turn into worthless hunks of junk as soon as you add a little weight? Or can they actually handle the kind of loads that people need to haul on a daily basis? And dont even get me started on the whole range anxiety thing - if Im hauling a heavy load, I dont want to have to worry about running out of juice halfway up a hill.
So come on, eBike enthusiasts - lets get real here. Whats the actual performance of these things when theyre loaded down with some serious weight? Or are you all just too busy sipping lattes and cruising along bike paths to care about real-world performance?
