What is the point of hiring a cycling coach when all they seem to care about is making you waste 20 minutes of your precious time on a structured warm-up and cool-down, when you could be out there actually riding and getting some real training in? Is it just a money-making scheme to charge people for something that they can easily learn from a YouTube video?
Do coaches really believe that a few jumping jacks and some toe touches are going to make a significant difference in a riders performance, or is it just a way to make them feel like theyre getting their moneys worth? And what about the cool-down, isnt that just an excuse to take a leisurely spin around the block while the coach is still getting paid?
Can someone explain to me why a structured warm-up and cool-down are so crucial that a coach would devote nearly a third of the entire training session to them, when the rest of the time could be spent on actual skills training or endurance building?
Are coaches just trying to justify their own existence by making riders believe that they need to be handheld through every aspect of their training, or is there actually some scientific basis for this waste of time?
