Whats the point of spending upwards of $200 on a high-end frame bag specifically designed for camera gear when a $20 dry bag and some DIY straps can achieve the same functionality? Are we really paying for the name brand or is there some tangible benefit to these fancy frame bags that Im missing?
Ive seen some of the top gravel bike frame bags on the market, like the Apidura Expedition Frame Pack or the Specialized Burra Burra Framepack, and while they do look sleek and well-designed, Im not convinced that theyre worth the hefty price tag. Can someone explain to me what sets these frame bags apart from a more budget-friendly option? Is it the material? The construction? The fact that theyre specifically designed for camera gear?
And what about the weight and aerodynamics? Do these high-end frame bags really make a significant difference in terms of weight savings and aerodynamic efficiency? Or are we just talking about a few grams here and there? Ive seen some tests that suggest the difference is negligible, but Id love to hear from someone whos actually put these bags to the test.
And lets not forget about the durability. Are these high-end frame bags really built to last, or are they just going to fall apart after a few months of heavy use? Ive heard stories about some of these bags developing holes and tears after just a few hundred miles, which doesnt exactly inspire confidence.
So, whats the verdict? Are these high-end frame bags worth the money, or are we just paying for the name brand and the prestige that comes with it?
