Are Zwifts structured workouts and custom training plans really that effective, or are they just a bunch of generic cookie-cutter sessions thrown together without any real consideration for individual rider needs and goals?
Ive seen some of the training plans they offer and they seem to be just a bunch of do this many intervals for this many minutes at this intensity without any real context or explanation of why youre doing what youre doing. And dont even get me started on the lack of customization options - its like they expect every rider to be the same.
And whats with the obsession with FTP-based training? Newsflash: not every rider has access to a power meter or the means to get an accurate FTP reading. Cant Zwift offer more training options that dont rely on FTP?
And how do Zwifts training options compare to other platforms like TrainerRoad or Training Peaks? Are they really offering anything unique or innovative, or are they just trying to cash in on the whole smart trainer craze?
Ive also noticed that Zwifts training plans seem to be very focused on endurance and stamina, but what about riders who are looking to improve their sprinting or climbing abilities? Are there any training plans or workouts that cater to those specific goals?
And can someone please explain to me why Zwifts workouts are so short? I mean, Ive seen some workouts that are only 30-45 minutes long - is that really enough time to get a good workout in?
Im not trying to bash Zwift or their training options, but as a rider who is serious about improving my performance, I want to know that Im getting the best possible training tools and resources available to me. So, can anyone shed some light on whether or not Zwifts training options are really worth the hype?
