Whats the point of even calling yourself a cyclist if you cant be bothered to ride in a little cold weather? I mean, seriously, if a bit of frost and some chilly winds are enough to keep you off your bike, then maybe youre better off taking up a different hobby.
Im not asking for advice or suggestions on how to stay motivated, because lets be real, if youre not motivated enough to ride in the cold, then youre probably not motivated enough to be a real cyclist. What I want to know is, whats the most pathetic excuse youve ever heard from a fellow cyclist for not riding in the cold?
Is it the guy who claims his bike is too delicate for the cold weather, so he has to put it in storage for the winter? Or the girl who says shes too afraid of getting frostbite, so she only rides on days when its above 50 degrees?
And dont even get me started on the roadies who think theyre above riding in the cold just because theyre too afraid of getting their precious lycra dirty. Newsflash: real cyclists dont let a little cold weather stop them.
So, I want to hear from you, whats the most ridiculous excuse youve ever heard for not riding in the cold? And if youre one of those people who makes excuses, then maybe you should just stick to riding your stationary bike in the comfort of your own home.
