  1. Interval training is widely touted as the holy grail of boosting cardiovascular capacity in cycling, but is it really as effective as everyone claims. It seems like every coach and trainer is peddling their own brand of interval workouts, from 20-minute all-out sprints to 4-hour endurance rides with 10-minute climbs. But what does the actual science say.

    Is it possible that interval training is just a fad, a way for coaches to make their training programs sound more complicated and impressive than they actually are. And what about the risks of overtraining and burnout that come with high-intensity interval workouts. Are we really getting the best bang for our buck, or are we just setting ourselves up for injury and disappointment.

    And dont even get me started on the whole Tabata this and HIIT that nonsense. Its like people think that just because theyre doing intervals, theyre automatically going to get faster and more efficient. Newsflash: its not that simple. There are so many other factors that go into building cardiovascular capacity, from genetics to nutrition to overall training volume.

    So, I want to ask: whats the real evidence behind interval training. Is it really the magic bullet that everyone says it is, or is it just another overhyped training fad. And what about the role of steady-state cardio in building cardiovascular capacity. Is that just a waste of time, or is there still value in putting in long, slow miles.

    Lets get a real discussion going here, rather than just regurgitating the same old training myths and misconceptions. Whos got some actual science to back up their claims, and whos willing to challenge the status quo and think outside the box.
