I was wondering now that I have had my thyroid removed due to papillary carcinoma, how does dietary
intake affect thyroid cells that are remaining however tiny a number.

I understand that with a regular thyroid if there is a shortage of iodine in the diet the thyroid
adapts and compensatory changes occur ie., first - more T3 secreted in preference to T4, second TSH
goes up thereby increasing iodine uptake.
So, how do well differentiated thyroid cells behave when they are not given enough TSH (ie., very
low due to sppression) and the dietary iodine is
a) low
b) high Could this affect de-differentiation of well-differentiated cells ?
In general whenever a specialized cell is pevented from doing its job, like thyroid cells, what
happens to them ?
Does anybody know of any sources which talk about pressures which bring about de-differentiation ?
