Actually, snowshoes are nice so you don't pock hole somebody's groomed ski trail, and that's the
closest trail head to my house and isn't as drifted in as other trails are after all these high
winds. And the snowshoe people are really nice 🙂

Now, are you going to pick up your billy goat friend and have him run in the snow with you? or is he
not on the way to the trails? 🙂 Inquiring minds want to know.

Lack of traction, mostly because the trails turn to solid ice with just enough leaves to hide the
fact. Right now we have only a little ice so the screws were fine in the snow. The trail I was on
also drained very well so I can't generalize the conditions. I know there are are some other trails
that I may try. I did notice that when the trail section was not flat the tendency to slide, screws
or not, was difficult to avoid. These are conditions that are conducive to injuries. So, yes, I like
the idea of the diversity in the woods but I need to pick the trail carefully. Playing with the deer
and the antelope is fun but not to torque one's knee or ankle. I'm crazy not stupid. 😉

I'll have to see if the goat likes to ride in the car. He will probably insist on riding in the

That's what I bump into also and why I switched for some runs earlier this year. Where I slip (using
Trespasses), usually it's the snow itself or the leaves or whatever moving, not my shoes slipping on
the surface (for snow only - ice or thin snow on ice is different story). The drifts are horrible
even for walking on many of the trails now so that's been a motivating factor to switch. The other
condition I don't like is layer of ice on top of snow where you break through at unexpected times -
even with snowshoes.

Something I meant to clarify about the kind-of-shoes comment I made the other day - and this is
mostly to provide other thoughts for people that might be considering putting screws in shoes. I'm
thinking a road shoe will be easier to do this with than a trail shoe because of the amount of
material there to hold the screw, like jobs mentioned the other day. Thicker soles, like Grid
Stabils vs Adrenaline, are probably more screw friendly although firm insoles, like Superfeet, might
reduce some of those problems. Ye old experiment of one 😉

FWIW, I've been really pleased with my Trespasses in snow (no ice yet this year - knock on wood)
although not that great when we get a thin layer from fog on the road - nothing to dig into. They
have a softer rubber then my old Grid Stabils so maintain traction better when cold.
